THE SHIPS: MINIATURES

Colonial Viper, two sizes were used, one lifesize the other a miniature. There were only 7 of the original colonial viper miniatures made. Starticles (www.starticles.com) recently had one for sale for $12,000. They may still have it for sale. William French whose collection is displayed at the scifihollywood page (www.scifihollywood.com) also has one. The ship is a marvel. The flame effect of the ships was created through a sophisticated pyrotechnic process that involved shooting freon out the back through a system of tubes with varying pressure levels and intensities. Of course this did not propel the plane forward. An even more sophisticated camera tracking and motion camera sysem was required to generate the various flight and turn sequences seen in the show. The colonial viper is in essence build around a metal armature that gives the ship great support.

The Cylon Raider only four were originally made
