Throughout the Rambo saga, John
Rambo has represented the lone soldier; the
commando, the guerilla. Rambo, a perfect specimen
of a finely tuned machine in Vietnam, finds that
life back in the States after the war is very
different. This lone soldier exists without war
or battle when he returns to a country that does
not appreciate his efforts. Specialized training
for war is useless in times of peace and Rambo
soon finds his life without purpose. Searching
for purpose the lone soldier finds that
"It's a hard road when you're all
alone." But Rambo does find comfort with
Colonel Trautman his former CO in Vietnam.
