MUSIC
![]() ![]() The Rambo saga effectively uses music to convey mood, determinism, and defiance. In First Blood music is used to convey a sense of hoplessness while at the same time a point of defiance as one stands against many. All three of the Rambo movies employ a variation on the theme music from the first movie. Like a wounded animal faced with a flight or fight instinct Rambo drives forward through light and through darkness and a musical theme seems to guide the action. Rather exploring, preparing to hunt, or preparing to run, music foreshadows the action just as it did on the battlefields of long ago. Music in the early days of muskets and powder was used to drive forth soldiers and inspire a sense of mood and rhtyhm. The Rambo saga plays homage to this historical role that music has played for the soldier past, present and future.
