Is Time Travel or the Paradoxes it Presents Possible As the Movie Presents.

It is generally accepted that one can easily "travel" into the future. This is accomplished by altering ones perception of time. As one's velocity approaches that of the speed of light, a person would start to become nearly massless and gravity's effects would appear less noticeable. Gravity itself makes it harder for particles and cells to move, so lessening the effects of gravity would make it easier for the body to perform its life functions. This would allow for a person to live longer just as freezing a person slows their metabolism. In theory as one approaches the speed of light ones perception of time decreases. To such a person traveling at such a speed, time appears to go by much faster. So one could travel in time in what appears to be hours but which in fact is days to anyone else not in such a situation.

But to travel into the past is a more complicated thing to contemplate. To be able to recreate the exact position and speed of every particle in the universe as it once existed is the essence of what time travel into the past would be. Some pseudosciences suggest time is a dimension that can be traversed just as easily backward as forward as one can just as easily travel up as down. This is most likely nonsense. Perhaps by analyzing the location or path a particle is taking today could allow one to reasonable predict how it was before. If one had god like powers one could look at all particles in the universe or our galaxy, determine how they have interrelated in the past and recreate their interactions as they were in the past. To travel in the past by such a means would prove nearly as difficult as recreating the entire universe from scratch.

To be able to send something of matter from the future into the past would logically suggest that in the future something has now been removed from the universe. If such matter was not destroyed then where did it go? If you transferred the matter to the past then the universe of the past all of a sudden became more massive as matter just magically appeared as if by magic. Unless things can magically just be created from thin air which alter the effects of gravity, and all forms of energy in the universe then travel into the past on a literal level is not possible. It is as logical to think that one particle travling instantly fast composes all things that people see hear and touch including the people themselves if you believe matter can just magically appear or vanish. Analyzing such a theory of matter, one would wonder if matter itself is an illusion. If one particle could travel instantaneously throughout the universe could it not then make up everything that we perceive including ourselves, our parts, and everything? Thats an absurd notion which seems just as logical as something magically vanishing from one universe and arriving in another.

However it may be possible that within a certain elementary form the universe repeats itself. Stars, and galaxies cluster, and planets travel in elliptical orbits. This consistancy suggests a pattern perhaps which repeats itself again and again. Perhaps the universe is a system of hierarchies that repeat themselves. By this I mean that within some elementary form of the universe a collection of mini universes exists exactly in shape and function as the giant one we perceive. Perhasp the entire universe it just a collection of mini structures which are exactly alike but merely spaced out. If this were so then one could extrapolate from some smaller microscopic structure perhaps what the past once was, but not participate or change it.
