This
toy was originally marketed in 1985
by Arco toys which was the company that made the licensed
V toy weapons marketed in the US many of which are quite
rare and relatively unknown as this piece is. This
basically is a toy dart gun rifle made to resemble a
visitor laser rifle from the V tv series. This gun was
also marketed in V packaging but the ones in V packaging
are quite rare.
This weapon was purchased in quantity by Laird Studios which handled most of the special effects work for the live action Masters of the Universe movie. Laird Studios modified and dressed up several of these as a possible weapon for use in the movie. The weapons were generally painted black and the clear tube at the top was often colored in a darkish color as well. The shoulder stocks since they were plastic and quite fake were often not used to give the gun greater realism.
Ultimately this weapon was decided to be unsuitable for use in the Masters of the Universe movie but its connection to Laird studios has promted the idea that these weapons were background V weapons. Such was clearly evident in 1998 when several of these were sold on ebay as V prop weapons.

Incredibly detailed, durable parts make this one weapon that will last and be treasured for a long time.
This toy set consists of a pistol, rifle barrel, shoulder stock, forward stablizer grip, 6 darts, scope, cutout bullseye, and cutout targets. The pistol portion has a tube that illuminates with sparks when the trigger is depressed. Pieces can be fitted onto this pistol to create many possible weapon configurations. The rifle barrel can be attached to the pistol and can fire darts out of its barrel with the capacity to shoot them accurately quite some distance. The pistol/rifle barrel combination allows for darts to be shot while the pistol's trigger is depressed creating sparks and a quite attention getting spark noise.
This is truly an incredible weapon even if it's orginal design was to be just a "toy"
