Wicked Witch of the West prop hourglass (measures 20 inches high and 11 1/2 inches in width. The hourglass has a wood frame. Frame has been restored. Glass portion contains red glitter. According to Camden House "The glitter, however does not flow readily through the constricture and is probably not original." Originally purchased from the 1970 MGM auction. Several broken hour glass frames were seen at that auction. This may be the only unbroken hourglass from the movie that has survived. One was rigid and was used in normal walking scenes. The other was flexible and used when the tail was held or chewed by the actor. This is the flexbile tail. In scenes throughout the movie the Lion's tail is manipulated via wire and pole from above.
